It's been a long time since I've been able to hit up a supercross race and with Detroit only a couple of hours from my front door I figured it might be a good time to make the trip and I'm sure glad I did. It was a full day of racing action and a good chance to get a good old whiff of race gas. (I guess the Ford Field employees were less fans of race gas though. Several uniformed workers were walking around with surgical masks and it looked like there was another SARS outbreak about to happen.) Round eight was another scheduled Triple Crown format race which for the spectator meant we had more races to watch but it always shaves the privateers out early on. It also meant we didn't get to see the KTM Junior race in Detroit. I'm personally not a fan of the Triple Crown format. We had a Marshal Weltin get a guest spot on Race Day Live and a bit more screen time for AJ Catanzaro when he took the win in the LCQ. Let's take a look at what shook down in Motown this past weekend.

Bubba Pauli checking out lines before he heads out for timed practice.
Chris Blose ready for that gate to drop.
Blose topped the B qualifying times.
Scotty Wennerstrom locked and loaded.
Pits were tucked under the stairs at Ford Field.
Henry Miller putting in a heater in qualifiers.

Joey Crown topped the group B qualifier times.
Preston Taylor working it through timed qualifiers.

Ronnie Stewart
Some bad luck prevented Ronnie Stewart from that transfer spot in the LCQ.
Mike Fowler made the drive from PA to line up in Detroit this weekend.
Bad luck seemed to also follow Preston Taylor in Detroit where his race bike blew up.
Joey Crown was riding really well but ended up getting tangled up with another rider in the LCQ and that ended his night.
Marshal Weltin would finish 13th in the LCQ.
Scotty Wennerstrom would finish 20th in the LCQ.
Bubba Pauli would take 11th in the LCQ.
On to the night show!
An 8-11-10 would give Kyle Cunningham and impressive 9th overall in Detroit.
Henry Miller would finish 12-13-15 for 13th overall.
Finishing 16-20-17 for 18th overall for Josh Osby.
AJ Catanzaro would take 20-18-20 for 21st overall.
Chris Blose went 16-15-15 for 15th overall.
