by Dawn McClintock Photos by James Lissimore Round 2 of the Rockstar Energy Triple Crown MX Tour was held at a brand new location for the Canadian MX nationals. We venture just up the road from Chilliwack at Popkum MX park. For a number of years this track has been considered a practice facility and was up against some pretty heavy criticism from the moto community about not being a 'national calibre' track. Well the folks at Popkum and the Jetwerx crew proved all of those naysayers wrong. It was a successful weekend aside from a bit of dust in the final motos and perhaps the weather shift the following day for the amateur event. We saw our top FXR riders in MX2 and the Ladies class stride into Popkum with their red plates. Both Jess Pettis (MX2) and Kennedy Lutz (Ladies) will carry forward their red plates to Prince George this weekend. Let's take a look at the action from Popkum.
Ladies class top runner, Kennedy Lutz looking aggressive on her Yamaha with the 1E plate turned red to indicate her being the points leader.
Angela Martyshuk would go 16-20 for 18th overall.
Local BC girl, Kassee Morrison took 9-10 for a solid 10th overall.
Lutz had her work cut out for her with fast American rider, Tarah Gieger coming up to give the Canadian series a go.
Lutz preps for the podium but not on the top of the box where she is accustomed to being. Gieger was on the gas at Popkum and left the field of ladies in her dust.
Your Ladies podium at Popkum. Kennedy Lutz would go 3-2 for a 2nd overall.
Anthony Spadaccini would go 16-13 for 12th overall.
Cade Clason looking strong in moto one.

Cade would go 8-26 for a 17th overall.
Davey Fraser finding his groove.
Fraser would go 16-13 for 13th overall.
Ryan Lalonde would go 11-33 for a 20th overall.
The money shot with Hayden Halstead.
Tough weekend for Halstead with a bad start in the first moto. He managed to pick his way up to 10th.
Things didn't get any better for Hayden in moto 2 where he had some mechanical issues that forced him to DNF. He would finish out Popkum with a 19th overall.
Another local rider, Jonah Brittons. He would take 12-36 for a 20th overall.
Joey Parkes would take 19-14 to give him 17th overall.
Jared Petruska had himself a pretty solid day at Popkum.
Petruska would go 11-9 for a 9th overall.
Marco Cannella continuing with his push to get to the front of the pack at Popkum.
Cannella would take 6-5 for an impressive 5th overall.
Will we see this guy up on the podium as things swing to the east?
Teren Gerber is another guy who is turning heads this year.
Gerber would take a 13-10 for a 10th overall.
Mission, BC kid, Tyler Gibbs will be a force to recon with in the upcoming years.
Gibbs would take 21-22 for 23rd overall.
This series is stacked with BC riders, Wyatt Waddell is from Aldergrove, BC.
Waddell would go 14-16 for a 15th overall.
Pettis looking good with his red plate.
